You absolutely need the Zune manager software, and that only runs on Windows. Or at the very least Windows Media Player which again also only runs on Windows. With that said, running Windows on Bootcamp should not cost you any more money since you mention you've tried Parallels and other VM software and that suggests you already have a copy of Windows you tried to use with that.

What happened when you tried the VMs? Perhaps we can help you sort that out instead of trying to find a obscure method that probably does not exist.
